Get a job in Security in Arizona

Looking for a Security Job in Arizona?

According to the U.S. Labor Statistics Investigation and Security industries indicate substantial growth for the next 15 years in both the public & private sectors.

As an owner of a security agency in Arizona and a training director my perspective on getting a job in the Security field is unique.  I trust the following tips will help you navigate the hiring process and give you the edge in the sea of new applicants to the growing security fields.

Here are some tips on how to get hired:

1. Education
Education separates a stagnant individual from one who understands that advancement comes from being able to offer a company more.

2. Training
Training demonstrates a level of commitment and is an indication of discipline, professionalism and work ethic.  Your training will also significantly influence your attitude, confidence and how you carry and conduct yourself.

3. Experience
Experience is an indication of ability and one's capacity for teamwork.  It is a good qualification because you've most likely already learned from your mistakes and will ultimately save the company that expense.

4. Research
Research will equip you to align your personal resume, ability and objectives with that of the company.  You can better position yourself to solve a problem or meet a need of the company.  This will in turn put you in a better position from which to negotiate your pay and/or benefits.

5. Network
Networking gets you out there in the mix.  The security industry is growing, but as with any industry, it has an active core of people doing the majority of it.  Furthermore, you can increase your contacts, resources, determine specialties and can leverage those if the need arises.  One of the strongest influence hiring factors to recruiters is a referral from a trusted source.

6. Build your reputation
In time, you can build a network of trusted associates.  If you demonstrate yourself to be a trusted, competent professional and a pleasure to work with, you will certainly be presented with more opportunities.  The security industry frequently refers business or sub contracts services.

7. Get recommended

Some companies like ours might offer you a reference or letter of recommendation for placement.
No matter what your career goals in security you are wise to choose such a growing field. Well trained and experienced Security Professionals futures are very bright indeed. Even if you do not choose our company for training, do yourself a favor and choose wisely.

Best wishes and stay alert, safe and strong. In the end, we are all on the same team.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. In times of transition and uncertainty it’s nice to have help in your corner.

Anthony Miles“ Please accept my nomination for John Nottingham as Security Professional of the year.
My name is Anthony Miles. I have had the privilege of working with John Nottingham over the last 9 years. I must say that he is one of the very best security minded people I have ever come into contact with. His system for dealing with assessment of risk, removing yourself from danger and eliminating threat were ahead of their time when I first heard of them 8 years ago and are still out front of the wave. Nottingham's credentials are impeccable, he is a 6th Degree Black Belt and Senior Master Instructor, former Army Special Forces Airborne Ranger, where he tested and taught combatives at full speed with full force, which gave him the feedback needed to gain truth in conflict and develop a highly effective system.
Nottingham is a gifted teacher and is constantly continuing his educating and adjusts his approach based on real world risk based scenarios and ways to effectively eliminate threat. If you have not had the pleasure of being in one of Nottingham's VIPER Street Combat Training intensives, It will change you forever as it did for myself, my wife and everyone who I have seen go through the program. A version of his training system is listed on listed on the TRS Direct website. Although, I do not agree with how they present and market his materials in a very stylistic and quick gimmicky manner, Nottingham's systems are loaded with real, simple and easy to comprehend and use strategies and techniques for keeping yourself out of danger. His strategies for training make sure you have what you need in crisis.
Thanks you for your time and the consideration.
Best regards,
Anthony Miles

Security Guard Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) governing SG Licenses

Training First Responders…Law Enforcement, Military, Security and Corrections
http://ScottsdaleBodyguard.com
http://ScottsdaleExecutiveSecurity.com
Source: http://licensing.azdps.gov/Licensesecurityguard.asp

Security Guard - Private Law Enforcement

Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) governing SG licenses

Who must be licensed

You must be licensed if…
…You work for a security guard agency that pays you to provide security guard services to other companies.

  • Until you are licensed by DPS, you cannot wear a uniform and/or stand post as a Security Guard.

  • Licenses from other states are not recognized in Arizona.

  • Unless you fall under one of the Exceptions in ARS 32-2606, providing security guard services without a license is a class 1 misdemeanor. Additionally, a violation of these regulations can prevent you from obtaining a license in the future.

  • You do not need a license if…

  • …You work for a proprietary company as explained in Exceptions. A proprietary company pays you to be their security guard.

  • Note to Peace Officers: Peace officers operating a security agency (business) must be licensed per the requirements of this website. This means the submission of an application, fees, a workman's compensation policy, liability insurance, a list of employees and a recent letter from the agency head (or designee) that the officers may wear department uniforms and drive department vehicles. If your agency will not permit the use of agency uniforms and vehicles, you must follow the instructions below pertaining to security uniforms and vehicles. Recent inquiries of various risk management and human resources entities has shown that they WILL NOT cover officers working in this capacity, the only exception is typically if the job was coordinated through an authorized agency off duty work coordinator - check with your department for further information as the policy may vary between agencies. If your agency will cover you in this security capacity, submit a written statement from BOTH your HR and Risk Management directors, in addition to all the other required application paperwork. Consult with your agency head and HR department before creating a security business due to conflicts related to peace officer status and liability while working for a security company.
